After Gulabo Sitabo, Ranbir Kapoor And Vaani Kapoor's Shamshera To Have A Digital Release? Actress Sheds Some Light On This
In a recent interview, Vaani Kapoor spoke about her film Shamshera with Ranbir Kapoor and stated that they are pretty much on schedule to release the film. But whether it will be a digital release or in theatres due to Coronavirus, find out here.
Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor starrer Shamshera backed by YRF has been in the making for ages. Finally, the film helmed by Karan Malhotra got its release date and was expected to hit the theatres on July 31, 2020. However, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus and the following lockdown, the release of the film seems unlikely. But going by what Vaani Kapoor said in a recent interview, it appears that the film is very much on schedule. The question of Shamshera having a digital release like Gulabo Sitabo was also raised. Scroll to know what she said.
In a conversation with Rajeev Masand, Vaani said, "It was pretty much done. I don't know about Ranbir's scenes and if his work is left. It was pretty much looking good and (had) shaped up well. It was pretty much finished. I don't know if I can talk much about it but I know that we've have been pretty much scheduled and been ready for it to release."
Talking about the film having a digital release, Vaani stated that it is highly unlikely that the makers would opt to release the film on an OTT platform. That's because of the grandeur and elaborated scenes in the film. Vaani said, "We're just hoping for whenever this ends because I am pretty sure that makers will wait it out for lockdown to get over and for things to come back to normal for them to release the film. Because, Rajeev, whatever that I have seen from the film, whatever little I have been able to watch, I know and everybody else who's a part of the film knows that it is a big-screen film and they wouldn't want to release it on any other platform."
Well, we'll have to wait till the lockdown ends to know the fate of Shamshera. The period-drama will see Ranbir in the role of a dacoit and will also feature Sanjay Dutt. (Also Read: Ranbir Kapoor Gets Slammed By Netizens For Not Staying With Neetu Kapoor Post Father Rishi Kapoor's Demise)
